Tavarnelle in Val di Pesa

Agricultural village in the Pesa Valley, created as a Roman postal station on the edges of the Via Cassia. Very interesting to see is the Churches of S. Lucia al Borghetto (XIV cent). Part of this area is also the village of S. Donato in Poggio, that has maintained its Middle Ages aspect and with its Churches of S. Donato and S. Maria della Neve. At a distance of 3 Km is also the wonderful Badia a Passignano (XI cent), a sort of Monastery-Fortress with very high cypresses all around. The Church next to the Badia contains important works of art by Ghirlandaio.
